Biography

Rickie Lee Kroell is a composer, vocalist and songwriter based in Berlin.

Rickie Lee has been submerged in music from an early age which led her to start her official musical journey writing her jazz-pop debut album “Otherwise” (2011) before college. In her early teens she had already fallen in love with writing music to picture, which led her to study at Berklee College of Music (BA Classical Composition ’14) in Boston and conclude her education with a MA at University of Southern California through the renowned Screen Scoring Program (’17) in Los Angeles. After leaving the US working as a freelance composer and composers’ assistant, Rickie Lee has been involved with multiple projects in Germany involving songwriting and recording for other artists, scoring for TV and film and releasing own indie pop material. Her concept EP “Hauptsache was mit Deichkind” (2022) had been a first attempt to reconnect with her home and language through music after many years studying and working in the US. Combining her melodic craft, voice and compositional know-how with visual media has been a journey to this day, leaving space for concept, song and emotion.
